Greggs and Costa among chains offering free items and half price discounts to NHS staff
With the recent outbreak of COVID-19, it has made it apparent that we owe the National Health Service and all those who work for it a huge dept of gratitude.
Whilst most people are beginning to work from home in an effort to prevent the spread of this virus, NHS staff are working around the clock to provide care to those who need it during the outbreak.
And in the spirit of giving back it seems that it is not just the public who would like to repay their resilience and effort in the fight against the corona-virus, but large companies would also like to do their part.
Places like Costa, Greggs, Leon and Burger King are all offering large discounts and freebies for health workers.
Dominos are offering a free pizza that can be collected in certain stores and Pret-A-Manger are offering a free drink and 50% of all items if shown an NHS ID.
Supermarkets are also giving back by allocating a specific time for workers to shop.
Asda CEO, Roger Burnley described us as being “in the most extraordinary of times,” and that the company will be “prioritising NHS workers in larger stores every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8-9am.”
This gives key-workers a chance to avoid the stockpiling chaos that is happening throughout the country.
Chain restaurants across England are also offering a discount to NHS staff. Gusto, an Italian restaurant with 18 branches across the country, are offering 50% of the total bill.
Marketing Director James Newman stated that, “it’s a way to give back in this time of crisis.”
The relentless efforts by key-workers during this time of panic and chaos deserves recognition.
Now this is our opportunity to care and give support to those who have been tirelessly caring for us.
