The annual creative writing event is at its 21st edition, but this year many more are taking part, due to increased free time in lockdown. November is now the National Novel Writing Month.
Hundreds of popular novels have gone to print after their authors have joined NaNoWriMo, among which titles such as Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus and Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl.
The event’s webpage offers tools such as a progress tracker and daily reminders, as well as pep talks from acclaimed authors, to give participants a boost of inspiration. The goal is to complete a full manuscript from 1 November until 30 November. With the publishing sector seeing an increase in sales this year, it seems now is the right time to put pen to paper and get our ideas flowing.
