The introduction to the story read out by the presenter.
When writing a package, voice piece or two-way, write the cue at the same time as your script to make sure you don’t repeat yourself.
A cue is generally three lines – the top line, the second line, and the in-line introducing the reporter or clip.
It also needs to have technical details about the audio that follows, e.g.:
STORY BLOGGS CLIP 1
HEY! This is the top line of the story that gets the listener’s attention.
This line goes into a bit more detail about the story.
Joe Bloggs says it’s a really good idea:

DUR: 16″
IN WORDS: I think
OUT WORDS: really helpful
